| Lions Club receiving donation from TLC |
In 2007, the Kennesaw-Acworth Lions Club created
its first Sight Conservation Committe. The Committee members are Shep Moore (Chair), Doc Eaton and Jack Kimmich.
Almost immediately after a successful kick off of the committee, the Club saw a need to expand its duties to include Hearing
Conservation as well.
Chairman Moore has worked very diligently to locate areas of sight and hearing needs.
He began to contact schools in the Kennesaw-Acworth districts to locate a representative for the children and found that Cobb
County social workers are instrumental in providing direction for those children with hearing or vision loss. As
he continued to communicate with the social workers, Chairman Moore also located a vision partner, True Vision.
True Vision Eyecare is located in Acworth at 6110 Cedarcrest, in the Publix Shopping Center. Dr. Brian Mayes and
Dr. John Valle have not only provided leadership through their business but also on a personal level by joining the
Kennesaw-Acworth Lions Club. Thanks to True Vision, Kennesaw-Acworth Lions Club is now one of the few Lions organizations
in Georgia that have active optometrists as club members. They have also made it possible to reach out and help those
in our community directly. With their assistance, we have helped a growing number of adults and children with vision

The Club is also now partnered with TLC Laser Center's Kennesaw branch. On January 30th, 2008,
the Club received a generous donation from TLC as part of this partnership. This money will go back into the local community
to provide more eye care as well as other services as they are needed. More information about Lasik and TLC can be found
